Center for Jewish History Statement on Tragic Shooting at the Lillian and Albert Small Capital Jewish Museum

New York, NY (May 22, 2025)

We are devastated and heartbroken by the tragic shooting that occurred last night at the Lillian and Albert Small Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and our colleagues at the Museum as they endure this senseless act of violence.

There is no place for antisemitism in our society. It cannot be tolerated, minimized, or ignored. The Center for Jewish History stands in unwavering solidarity with the Capital Jewish Museum and Jewish communities everywhere.

In the face of hatred, we reaffirm our mission with even greater urgency: to preserve and share Jewish history, to fight antisemitism in all its forms, and to ensure that the story of the Jewish people continues to be told.
