It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our Visionary Founder and Chair Emeritus, Bruce Slovin. His passion, leadership, and unwavering dedication made the Center for Jewish History a reality by uniting five renowned institutions under one roof to preserve and share the Jewish historical record with the world. We are honored to carry forward his legacy and mission. May his memory be a blessing, z"l.
Centuries-old documents and volumes from pre-Emancipation Europe reveal the continuity of Jewish life and the shaping of a strong Jewish identity. They come in part from commitment to and respect for the study and practice of Jewish law and religion. Learn how Jewish life was intensified as a result of the strict legal framework that limited the rights of Jews in Christian countries, and discover how Jews created communities rich in tradition, scholarship and culture.
