The Last Musician of Auschwitz

Date: January 29, 2026

Time: 3:30 – 5:00 PM
Online via Zoom

January 27, International Holocaust Remembrance Day, marks the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. As part of its commemoration of this day, the Center for Jewish History is pleased to offer a professional development opportunity for teachers focused on its curriculum for The Last Musician of Auschwitz, a film that tells the stories of Auschwitz prisoners who played and created music in the notorious death camp. The film shows how, in the most brutal and dehumanizing situations, music could offer a lifeline, a method of giving testimony, and even a way to resist.

Teachers will explore the six standards-aligned lesson plans and learn how to apply them in their social studies, ELA, and arts/music classes.

The program is free, but pre-registration is required.

CTLE credit is available for New York State teachers.
